Every day, millions of pounds of the food grown in the United States goes to waste, while an estimated 1 in 6 children suffer from hunger and food insecurity.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, local food banks are seeing significant increases in requests for fresh produce during this unprecedented food crisis. Approximately 1.15 million Washingtonians turned to food banks for help last year. This year the demand in our state will be even greater.
In response, the Sammamish Rotary Club has launched Operation Full Belly to support the important work of Harvest Against Hunger.
Harvest Against Hunger plays a unique role in the hunger relief system by connecting farmers, transportation providers, produce packers, volunteers, and hunger relief organizations to move healthy PRODUCE from farms and fields to the plates of those in need.
How to Help
Rotary members were moved by the challenges of hunger in our own community. We believe in this community and our ability to support each other. Sammamish Rotary (along with a $1,000 donation from Issaquah Rotary) is matching every dollar you donate up to $16,000.
