How does Operation Full Belly address hunger relief?
Every day, millions of pounds of the food grown in the United States goes to waste, while an estimated 1 in 6 children suffer from hunger and food insecurity. In Washington, roughly 1.15 million people turn to food pantries or hot meal programs to meet a basic human need.
Harvest Against Hunger plays a unique role in the hunger relief system by connecting farmers, transportation providers, produce packers, volunteers and hunger relief organizations to move healthy PRODUCE from farms and fields to the plates of those in need.
What is Harvest Against Hunger?
Harvest Against Hunger is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a project of Rotary District 5030.
Harvest Against Hunger connects farmers, truckers, volunteers and food banks to reduce hunger and food waste.
Who benefits from my contribution?
Founded in 1982, Harvest Against Hunger has gathered and distributed more than 430,000,000 healthy servings of produce for those in need in our community.
Why should I donate to the Operation Full Belly matching campaign?
A matching fundraising campaign gives you the opportunity to leverage your donation with a dollar to dollar match. For example, if you donate $250.00 your donation will be matched and becomes $500.00. Donate today and your gift will have twice the impact!
Who is donating the initial major gift to the matching fund?
The Sammamish Rotary Foundation is donating $15,000 to the matching fund. Issaquah Rotary has donated an additional $1000 to make the matching fund a total of $16,000.
How does a matching fundraising campaign work?
Every donation from the community will be matched dollar to dollar up to the total amount of $16,000.
